Transporter 2 Movie Review

dvd reviews | Transporter

Jason Statham is the Transporter, Frank Martin. More so than the first Frank Martin comes off as a super hero on this one. There is even a scene where a bad guy refers to Frank as a super hero.
I personally love super hero movies so I won't complain too much.

First let me say I really did love this movie. It was a great movie for relaxing and forgetting about the real world for a little while. Action, action, and more action was the name of the game, and it was fun! On the negative side of things there was one stunt that went beyond the believability scale. Frank has a bomb hooked up underneath his car. Does he pull over and run? No, there isn't enough time for that. So, he finds a ramp and jumps the car which rotates all the way around in the air. The car then, while upside down in the air, brushes against a giant hook from a crane knocking the bomb off, which explodes harmlessly in the middle of the air. Ok, if that was even possible with a stunt driver it would take weeks and weeks of preparation not a split second decision.

There are a few other things, but like I said the movie is fun. I don't usually watch movies to be enlightened or to get all weepy. I have enough emotional issues in the real world. I do prefer action movies that push things to the extreme while still managing to obey the basic laws of physics, unless it's a sci-fi or super hero movie and then all bets are off. To clarify it's not blood and guts I want to see for realism, just when a car jumps from one building to the next it should break into little pieces, unless of course it's a specially made James Bond car.

I rented this one first, but I'm considering buying it when I'm in the mood to see it again. I give it thumbs up and 3.5 out 5 stars on the movie guy rating. To give a good idea the new King Kong movie would get a 5.
