Million Dollar Baby DVD Review

dvd reviews

I finally rented "Million Dollar Baby" just because good old Clint Eastwood is in the movie. I have to say I was entertained especially with the dialogue going between Clint and Morgan Freeman. Clint had a lot of great lines that were actually quite funny in this tragic motion picture.

Sean Penn's Rescue Party Sinks!

Actor and liberal activist Sean Penn raced to New Orleans to help save victims of the New Orleans flood recently. His efforts were halted when his boat gained a leak, and he was unable to save it by scooping the water out with a plastic cup.

Onlookers pointed another possible problem, had Sean made it past that little issue. His entourage, which included a photographer, (obviously the first thing survivors of a flood want is their picture taken), had completely filled up the boat to the point that very few if any survivors could fit in the actor's boat anyway. When the boat's motor failed to start, those aboard were forced to paddle themselves back down the flooded New Orleans street.

Sahara DVD Review

dvd reviews

Just watched Sahara on DVD, and I highly recommend it. It's a classic shoot em' up movie. As the DVD box says it's like a mix of James Bond and Indiana Jones. There were even musical hints of Bond during the action scenes. The action keeps pace with any Bond film, but doesn't quite reach the level of an Indiana Jones movie even though the setting and action elements are very similiar to Indy. Matthew McConaughey does a great job as Dirk Pitt. Now how's that for a action hero name. You got to love the scene where he tells the Nigeria soldiers he doesn't speak English in English right before he pulls their boat underwater. It's good old fashioned fun.

This Weekend's Box Office August 28

New Movies

This week's box weekend results for August 28, 2005. Looks like The 40-Year-Old Virgin stays at the top of the box office. Surprising to me, since the commercial doesn't really look all that funny. The Brothers Grimm comes in at number two. I would have thought it would be number one this weekend.
