Direct to Consumer DVD Sales on the Rise

In the past all movies were made for the big screen because studios could
only bring a certain amount of movies to theaters each year. After they left the
big screen they would go straight to video and cable. Now things are much more
different than they were in the past. VHS’s are nearly dead and many studios are
not only producing movies for theaters but they are also producing movies for
direct to consumer sales. This trend, which has been growing over the last
couple of years, is expected to hit its peak in the next few years.

Since Chronicles of Narnia has just been released on DVD, I
thought we would remind you of all the Chronicles of Narnia sections and articles we have, plus we have a new Chronicles of Narnia DVD review below.

Just saw the Walk the Line movie with Reese Witherspoon and Joaquin Phoenix. It's the story of Johnny Cash and June Carter. Surprisingly this film has done well with critics and it was still good. The music was the best part. Phoenix is actually a great singer.

Tora!Tora! Tora! DVD

Here's an interesting review I found on the classic war movie "Tora! Tora! Tora!" Let me put a disclaimer in here. I have to disagree with the author on one point. I thought the movie "Pearl Harbor" with Ben Affleck was great myself, but nobody agrees on everything.

Cinderella Man stars Russell Crowe as real life boxer Jim Braddock, a man who makes a huge come back to win the boxing championship of the world in the 1930's.

The Fog stars Tom Welling as Nick Castle and Maggie Grace as Elizabeth Williams. Tom Welling is the star of the WB's Smallville. He plays a young Clark Kent before he moved to Metropolis. The Fog seemed a lot like a episode of Smallville complete with it's usual music choices. Maggie Grace was recently killed off of the very popular show Lost on ABC. Her Lost TV step brother Boone played by Ian Somerhalder also met the same fate dying off of Lost. He coincidentally, played a character named Adam a few seasons ago on Smallville.

I highly recommend the Legend of Zorro dvd! It's got the expected Zorro swashbuckling sword play, explosions, and a awesome train scene. It's hard to compare it to the first Zorro with Antonio Banderas. I'm tempted to say it may not been quite as good, but it would be close. I'll have to watch it again to be sure.

The Great Raid stars Spiderman's James Franco as Captain Prince a real life hero from World War 2 who lead a courageous raid to save captured American soldiers from the Japanese.

The movie is very patriotic in tone, but it's more of a historical piece than a John Wayne flag waver. It's authenic, realistic, and respectful to the real life soldiers and heroes of World War 2. If action is your ownly reason for watching movies you may be disappointed just a little. This movie is mostly story driven and is for those of us who love history. Still the ending is very action packed filled with explosions, gunfire, etc. The good guys win in the end. Just the way I like a movie.
