New Movies
This week's box weekend results for August 28, 2005.
Looks like The 40-Year-Old Virgin stays at the top of the box office.
Surprising to me, since the commercial doesn't really look all that
funny. The Brothers Grimm comes in at number two. I would have thought
it would be number one this weekend.

Super Heroes
Newlyweds Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck would like
to star in their first movie as husband and wife. The dynamic duo
married this summer. They first met during the filming of Daredevil in
2003. Jennifer of course played Elektra, Daredevil's movie and comic
book love interest. Jennifer Garner said, "Ben says it's in the early
stages." All super hero activities will have to wait though until their
new baby is born this autumn.

Another remake of the 1950's Invasion of the Body
Snatchers is on the way. This is the third remake so far. The first was
in 1978 with Donald Sutherland. The second was in 1993, and the latest
will begin filming in late September on location in Baltimore, New York
and D.C. It is targeted for release sometime in 2006 to coincide with
the 50th anniversary of the original. This one is going to star
Bewitched actress Nicole Kidman. The new Invasion is being produced by
Joel Silver and Vertigo Entertainment, the company behind the The
Grudge, and is being directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel.

New Movies
The top movies stayed about the same this week.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was number one $28.3 million, the
wedding crashers were number two with $26.2 million, ,and the Fantastic
Four stayed at number three with a little over 12 million dollars. New
movies, The Island, starring Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johansson as
clones on the run from a facility that has raised them as spare body
parts, took in $12.1 million, and the Bad News Bears only took in $11.5
million dollars. I was actually surprised it took in that much.

Looks like from the list of movies out this weekend
that the "Island" is probably the best bet. It stars Ewan McGregor and
Scarlett Johansson who learn they are clones bred for their organs and
they have to escape before they are harvested. You know Ewan McGregor
from Star Wars as Obi-Wan Kenobi.
