V For Vendetta Promises to be a Hit

New Movies | SCI-FI Blogs | Super Heroes

Everything I've read so far looks like the upcoming movie V for Vendetta might just be a big hit. There isn't a whole lot of competition out there right now and most comic book based movies do pretty good box office. This one is from Alan Moore the famous comic book writer who turned the Swamp Thing around way back in the 1980's. Moore doesn't want his name on this, but he's not been one to want to involve himself in projects controlled by the man. Kind of a loner he's not exactly embraced Hollywood. Although some have scorned The League of Extraordinary Gentleman movie based on his graphic novel, I thought it was actually very good. I even bought the DVD.

Hulk 2 Looking Good

New Movies | SCI-FI Blogs | Super Heroes

A sequel to the Hulk is looking more promising as the movie rights have reverted back to Marvel from Universal. This means they keep more of the money and so it would be less of a risk to make a sequel which profited if nothing else, but from the massive toy and product line that was created for the picture.

Captain America Movie

The associated press has an interview with Marvel Studios' Avi Arad in which he talks about the Captain America movie. "Without giving too much away, obviously there'll be a little bit of the origin and then we come into our real world," Arad says.

King Kong Doesn't Ape 1933 By Robert Sprackland

Please enjoy this article by By Robert Sprackland on King Kong 1933 and 2005.

Those of us who are 82 years old or older might remember the premier of a novel motion picture. While many movies during the Great Depression aimed to provide good feelings and a ray of hopeful sunshine into devastated lives, this particular movie had a somewhat different effect on the audiences. When people got their first glimpse of the giant ape called Kong, pandemonium broke out in the theater. People unintentionally mimicked sacrifice Ann Darrow (played by almost constantly screaming Fay Wray) and panicked. Like Darrow, they screamed, some fainted; others ran to the aisles and out of the theater.

Box Office Christmas Weekend

New Movies | SCI-FI Blogs

King Kong and Chronicles of Narnia hold on to the top two spots, both making just a little over 30 million dollars. Kong managed to squeeze out a vistory. Both movies are excellent in my opinion, but I think Chronicles got a lot of lift from the Christmas season with it's family and Christian background. Chronicles after all was written by the famous Christian author C.S. Lewis and has lots of Biblical symbolism.

King Kong Movie Review

King Kong | New Movies | SCI-FI Blogs

King Kong 2005 makes all previous Kong's pale by comparison. This is no man in a monkey suit nor is it cartoonish like cgi. It feels like your there with the monsters, bugs, and dinosaurs. It takes a little to get started, but your hanging onto the edge of your seat before you know it. Read my

Box Office for Weekend of December 17

New Movies | SCI-FI Blogs

King Kong took the box office this week with over 50 million over the weekend and 66 million for the whole week. Sure it was a little off of studio estimates who expected over 60 million for just the weekend, but it's a three hour movie without a book or comic book following. Of course everyone has heard of Kong and once the good reviews and fellow movie goer word of mouth gets out, I expect this movie to keep raking in for the entire holiday season and well into January.

Chronicles of Narnia Movie Review

New Movies | SCI-FI Blogs

I just saw Chronicles of Narnia last night, and I was blown away! I'm not usually that much into fantasy sword and sworcery kind of films, not counting the Lord of the Rings which was also really good, but this film rocked. It not only takes care of your action and special effects needs, but there are is a lot of deeply spiritual Christian symbolism woven into the movie that may require a bit of thought to get it all. So if your the kind of person who likes action, or you like to think a little bit this one is for you.
