Iron Man blew away the competition in it's second week making $50.5 million as compared to Speed Racer's $20.2 million. While this is rather disappointing for Warner Bros the movie is said to be getting good viewer reaction so perhaps it will hang on long enough at the box office to become a hit in the end. Word of mouth is really playing a big part of Iron Man's success. Iron Man being more a second stringer for Marvel Comics but with the explosive action, great story, and addition of Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark this movie really flies high. Iron Man is right behind Spider-Man in terms of box office. Compare that to the much smaller box office of other Marvel second stringers like Daredevil, a movie which did well at the box office in it's own right but nothing like Iron Man.
