In Society is a 1944 film starring the comedy team of Abbott and Costello.

Eddie Harrington (Bud Abbott) and Albert Mansfield (Lou Costello) are plumbers who receive a call about a leak in the private bathroom of Mr. Van Cleve (Thurston Hall), a wealthy businessman. Mr. Van Cleve doesn't care one bit for the costume party his wife is having downstairs. He just wants to sleep, so Bud and Lou do their best to end his leaky faucet problem only to create a flood in the man's bedroom and bathroom.

The comedic duo are accidentally invited to yet another rich man's event. This time a valuable painting is stolen, and it's up to Abbott and Costello to save the day. An action filled hilarious fire engine car chase ensues, and the guys save the painting, but will they trash the painting after all that trouble to save it?

Expect the usual big band music selections to be integrated into the plot as was the style of the times.

The movie cost just $659,000 to make which of course is chicken feed these days. It was filmed from June 12 through July 21, 1944.

This DVD is a awesome deal.  The film quality is nice. It's not a cheap reproduction and you get 8 movies for less than the price of one new movie.
To get this movie buy The Best of Abbott & Costello, Vol. 2 (Hit the Ice / In Society / Here Come the Co-Eds / The Naughty Nineties / Little Giant / The Time of Their Lives / Buck Privates Come Home / The Wistful Widow of Wagon Gap)

This film includes the classic Beagle Street scene, where Abbott and Costello attempt to deliver straw hats to the Susquehanna Hat Company, but everyone they meet along the way has a reason for hating that company and each of them destroys a hat until there are none left. Amazing comedy routine!

And don't say kids these days can't get humor from old black and white movies. My kid loved the Beagle Street scene. What was funny years ago for the most part, is still funny today.
