Million Dollar Baby won four Academy Awards in
2005. The movie stars Clint
Eastwood as boxer trainer Frankie Dunn, who in the wake of a
painful estrangement from his daughter, has not allowed himself to
get close to anyone in quite a while. Until Maggie Fitzgerald (Hilary
Swank) enters his gym. Maggie has lived a tough life, but her
determination and will, along with the support of Frankie's old
partner Eddie Scrap-Iron Dupris (Morgan
Freeman), who sees her potential as a boxer, win Frankie over
and he agrees to train her to box. Maggie and Frankie come to
discover that they share a common spirit that transcends
the pain and loss of their pasts, and they find in each other a
sense of family they lost long ago. But they both face a battle that
will demand more heart and courage than any they’ve ever known.
