The Chronicles of Narnia "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" Movie Review
By Movieguy

The Chronicles of Narnia is a must see adventure for the whole family. It's intelligent, exciting, and just a whole lot of fun. You've got talking animals, great special effects, and it's based on the book written by the late C.S. Lewis

Regardless of your religious background,  you'll find this very enjoyable, if your into family films at all.  Having said that, Christians will definitely enjoy the Christian symbolism. One of the main characters pays the ultimate price for the boy Edmond, taking Edmond's place for the crime committed by the boy.  This of course represents Christ's sacrifice on the cross. He being innocent took the punishment for us the rest of the world, who were guilty of sin against a Holy God. There are a lot more symbolic moments to Christ and Biblical theology, but I don't want to give away too many spoilers so I'll let you discover those for yourself when you watch the picture.

There is a sci-fi background for the story as well for science fiction fans that is besides the talking animals and other fantasy creatures like the half horse, half men. The children that discover Narnia are brought to a professor's house to escape the bombings of London, England during World War II. The kids find a room while playing hide and go seek with a closet that is a portal to another world. Nothing is said, at least in the movie, of the origins of the closet. Given the fact they are in a professor's house, who was apparently aware of the closet's power, one might think this was some kind of scientific experiment. Could this be a wormhole of some kind? Another interesting detail is that even though hours pass by while one is in Narnia, time stands still in our world.

The theatre I was sitting in was set up perfectly. I could feel the lion's roar, and the rumbling of a sleigh riding by. I highly recommend that you see this one in a good theatre with great sound, and don't wait for the DVD. See it now and get the DVD later.
