Journey to the Center of the Earth Movie Review 2008
Journey to the Center of the Earth starring Brendan Fraser as Trevor Anderson is a fun family amusement park ride. The 3D was the best I've ever seen.  The 3D is a new digital technology that took over 2 years to finish production. The actual shooting only took 60 days according to Brendan Fraser on a  recent interview. The 3d makes you feel like you are really in a cave exploring well beneath the earth's surface.  I could have sworn I was going to get hit in the face with water several times. You'll fall forever, and ride mine carts through miles of underground caves. Well at least you'll feel like you are. While the seat you are sitting in doesn't move the 3d makes it very real.

If your first priority is to see a family friendly film then this is it. I counted two almost cuss words. A volcanologist word used on the film, "shist" was said to take the place of the more familiar swear word.

Brendan Fraser is a great choice. He's got that ability to make deadly threats feel like part of an adventure ride. Loved the scene where he fights man eating plants. Got to love the humor. Fraser has got great one liners. While being chased by a dinosaur his nephew in the film played by Josh Hutcherson yells, "Haven't you ever saw a dinosaur" to which he replies, "Not with their skin on".

This is his best movie since the Mummy movies. I highly recommend it for the whole family. Take some friends and have a good time. After watching it, you might find your kids wanting to read the original book, "Journey to the Center of the Earth" by Jules Verne.

At the end they seem to be indicating a sequel could be in the works for an adventure at the Lost City of Atlantis.
